Welcome to the first entry to the TALegram! This blog will be an exciting way for me to accomplish several of my personal and professional goals. It will also be a branch of this website TallTal.com as it continues its development. I have a couple passions that I feel a calling to speak about.
The first passion is education.
I have been in education for a long time and have enjoyed working with my students to bring out the best in them. Over the years, it has become very frustrating and heartbreaking to sit back and watch the status of our educational system deteriorate. I want to be part of the CHANGE movement and be a voice for what is possible in education to promote a shift that will lead education to where it needs to be.
The second passion is the product.
The students are the product we send out into the real world after their K-12 experience. I am fascinated with developing new strategies and philosophies on how education can equip our learners to succeed and thrive in the 21st century. We are told more and more that our “product” is not acceptable to industry standards. Our kids come to the workplace with a plethora of content, but a lack in ability to innovate, collaborate, critically think, communicate, and so on. I want to be a part of the CHANGE that is needed to equip our students with a tool belt that WORKS.
In future posts, I will tackle these issues with ideas from the trenches in which I work every day. Some posts will be suggestions and ideas to implement. Some posts will be written in hopes that the policy makers take notice. Some will be written in an effort to vent and let off steam. ALL will be written to encourage us all to look at joining the CHANGE movement to help our kids. We as a society owe to them to foster a culture that puts kids in a place where the sky truly is the limit.

Stay tuned for www.TallTal.com as it nears completion. It will contain many “TALisms,” “Tall Tal Tales,” “foreTALing” thoughts, and much more “inTALigence.”
